Here’s how we do it:

• Measuring and tracking key indicator nutrients for every ingredient we use, now numbering more than 200.
• Taking extensive samples from every ingredient supplier’s plant for scientific analysis.
• Loading this nutrient data into our Optimum Value Supplier Database™ with more than 70,000 ingredient samples from 1,700 suppliers.
• Establishing a “fingerprint” for every supplier plant with a history of variation for every ingredient.
• Sharing this vital information with our feed formulation teams to ensure precision values and formulation results using our proprietary formulation system.

In vitro digestibility studies reveal true nutritional values.                                                                                                                         Understanding true animal nutrition goes beyond simply measuring levels of protein, fat and fiber. At Agway, our researchers use in vitro studies to simulate the animal’s digestive process, giving us more detailed nutritional information on a wider variety of ingredients than direct animal studies can provide.

With in vitro testing, we're able to discover within 48 hours how nutrients from different ingredients are actually used inside the animal. That helps us to be sure we match the unique requirements and biology of each animal species throughout its entire life cycle.

Now you can say goodbye to “fixed” formulations – because we’ve got something better.
Fixed formulas are based on set ratios of ingredients. Unfortunately, the nutritional values of these ingredients can vary dramatically – and often do.
